The Nuffield Centre is a Tri-Service families holiday centre at Llanfair PG on Anglesey. It is a facility provided for by a £1.3m grant from the Nuffield Trust for the Forces of the Crown.

The Nuffield Centre is open to all service men and women and their families to use as a holiday centre. It can also be used by service personnel as a base for adventurous training.

Guests staying at the Nuffield Centre will pay a charge for accomodation and use of the facilities that is approximately half that for similar civilian facilities.

The Nuffield Centre and its Facilities

Camping Site
The camping site can accomodate up to 30 personnel. A purpose built ablution block for campers is provided in the sailing club. Cost £4 per tent per night

 

Sailing Club
The RYA accredited sailing club is situated next to the Menai Straits and has a number of small and medium sized dinghies, including Wayfarers. Sailing classes with a resident sailing instructor are available. Dinghy courses can be held for as little as £40.

Indoor Climbing Wall
One of the largest walls in Britain, catering for everyone including beginners and children. In situ cafe Cost £3

Small Heated Swimming Pool - free

Fitness Training Centre - free

Nine family rooms with ensuite bathrooms. One of the rooms has disabled access and one can accomodate a family of 8. Three self-catering kitchens and dining rooms are provided for the family rooms.

Dormitory-style accommodation is available for a further 52 personnel in rooms of 2 to 6.

A centralised self-catering kitchen and dining room is provided for this accommodation.

Narrow Guage Railways: Snowdon Mountain and Ffestiniog.
Underground: Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Sygun Copper Mine.
Stately Homes: Plas Newydd, Penrhyn Castle.
Natural History: RSPB Seabird Centre at Holyhead,
Colwyn Bay Zoo, Anglesey Sea Zoo (Aquarium).
Walking & Climbing in Snowdonia National Park
and around the coast of Anglesey.
Many local centres for: Riding/Pony trekking,
Mountain Biking, Golf etc.
Beaches: Anglesey and the North Wales coast.

The Nuffield centre is co-located with the joint Service Mountain Training Centre [JSMTC] Indefatigable at Llanfair PG, Anglesey. It is ideally placed for the many local tourist attractions on Anglesey and for Snowdonia National Park.
JSMTC/ Nuffield Centre are only 4 miles from Bangor, which is well served by rail and the A55.
